Meet Laurence Summers

I am Laurence Summers, a fully qualified Blue Badge tour guide and a Londoner born and bred. I know its streets, alleyways and squares and have enjoyed the history, magic and anecdotes which still echo through this magnificent city.

Of course the staple diet for a great tour is Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Changing of the Guard , British Museum, Churchill’s War Rooms and Tower of London but I can also offer a number of other more specialised tours.

If you like literature I will treat you to helpings of Dickens, Shakespeare, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and others; if music is your thing we can see various hang-outs of the Beatles, Stones, Bowie and a host of others;  or maybe you prefer to hear the gruesome tale of Jack the Ripper or the tragedy of the Great Fire of London; or perhaps intrigue is your thing and, if so, we can do my Spies tour – this one’s about the real life characters, some of whom betrayed their country whilst others were real heroes.

For those interested in World War Two i can also offer tours exploring that theme, including locations of the Blitz and, of course, places relating to that great man, Winston Churchill

As a football fan I can also take you to some of London’s major stadiums such as Arsenal, Chelsea and the much-loved West Ham United and give you a bit of history of the teams.

And then there is the wonderful world of Art –we can explore some of the many paintings on view in this amazing city by visiting the National Gallery or Wallace Collection.

Or perhaps you would simply like to be navigated around some of  the nooks and crannies of this sometimes quirky and mysterious city. Whatever it is please feel free to contact me and ask questions and I’ll give you the tour you want.

But London tours is not all I do….. We can also explore many areas of the country in a chauffeur driven car or by train. We can , for example, explore the history of the exquisite Windsor Castle, the authentic wonder of Hampton Court Palace,the mystery that is Stonehenge the splendour of Blenheim Palace or the stunning beauty of the Cotswolds among others.

Whatever you fancy I am sure I can cater for it and am as happy with kids as I am with young adults, older adults, distinguished adults and everything else in between! Its a great job, always varied, always interesting and I look forward very much to meeting you.
